It's none of their business what you charge for, or pay your staff. The price is the price, they agreed to it, and are now trying to get out of it.

As above. :thumbup1:

Also highlight that you pay the insurance, running costs, saw & machinery maintenance costs etc.

What you charge someone out for is not what they get paid.

That's how business works.

If in doubt, ask them if they ask for a discount at the checkout in their chosen supermarket. :001_rolleyes:

why do people feel the need to explain anything to them?

re iterate your terms of payment and tell them that you will pursue them for the invoice amount plus costs if they exceed the deadline, people soon pay

easy

Agree...don't try explaining. If it took you twice as long as you anticipated would they pay double. Some builders we deal with want a job done pronto then ask for a breakdown of our charges i.e. materials plant labour and profit. Annoying ...!!!

Did you put 3 men 1 day on your quote.

I use to do this but if a 3rd man had a day off some would pull you on it.

Now it's job description & price.

Payment terms for us are simple for tree work it's on completion and landscaping materials + 50% of layover up front.

I got caught for 3 k last year and 4800 year before don't want the hassle any more.

How was the job priced???

I try to give very little detail about how long the job will take or how many men there will be working. I had a guy yesterday who when I quoted asked when I could do it and how long it would take, I told him when we could do it, but ignored the bit about how long it would take.

Also I almost never given written quotes, just verbal and a handshake. I have very few problems getting paid.
