havnt made one, but know of a guy who did and decided to turn it into a picture frame with a beautiful photo of his mother-in-law as figured it was too good for the throne.

Got a frosty reception and nobody commented on the lovely figuring or the excellent workmanship.

Some people !!

True story btw.

Mind you, would have helped if he had not left the lid attached

:lol::lol::lol:

he had a wicked sense of humour:lol:

made this from oak. bit too green so split a bit but works fine. 2'', thick, carving chainsaw, sander, 180 grit finish, tung oil x8 coats. the hinges are annoying but prob ok if your good at hinges.

You could have flushed before you took the picture :blushing: I'd be worried about smashing the pot if the seat dropped with that thickness of timber.

my kids slam it all the time, not smashed anything yet. i figured if i am making it from one bit of wood, it'll need to be good and chunky

Have a friend who makes them, will produce them from anything..... even the osb ply that you can see the chunks in.....looks weird but finished well with many layers of finish..... have an elm one stashed away.... will dig it out for photos...was mace circa 1900.... interesting fact the hole was designed by scribing the outline of the brim of the carpenters bowler....

love the fact that they are always warm..... and way healthier than plastic...... like chopping boards....
