You're doing well. I've given up trying to explain to my Mrs that tightly screwing up newspaper is not the best way to get kindling going. :001.

It's only took best part of five years

My lurcher likes turning logs into kindling as well. Much to the wife's amusement!

I'm burning my way through a pile of larch. Hopefully get some more in the future, prefer it to hardwood even if it does burn a bit faster. Gets the temp up nice and fast and my burner seems to prefer it to hardwood.

Got some green laburnum any good when seasoned?

I burn softwood and got a big beech tree this summer for cutting it up, it's all split and in the shed so probably burn some beech next year!

Mostly Sycamore and beech arisings this year and have a pile of "stuff" that I won't sell all knotty twisted bits of small trees that my gardener mate dumps on my drive. Strangely I enjoy burning the twisted knotty stuff, it's like tetris in the stove with the added fun of trying not to get third degree burns. As for the mrs and the fire......

Burning sycamore, ash, oak & a bit of cherry this winter.

My mate on the other hand burns body parts all year round. (Works at a medical incinerator)
