What socket set?

I have Halfords Pro in the car, just in case, although why I carry tools in the car these days is a mystery, have not used them for years.

 

I have all sorts at work, mostly old 40yr old Draper, 30 yr old Facom and Britool.

A few years ago I was replacing lost sockets with Halfords, just for convenience, but they have now all worn out or broken, so I only replace with Facom now.

 

I know Halfords replace broken tools from their Pro range, but the point is they should not break. I have never broken my good ones, even in my Ag days when they had serious punishment.

 

And Halfords stuff just does not 'feel' right to me.

I hear what you are saying about the the warranty but suspect I will not be using my tools as much as you

It may sound silly but I do want a set as the convenience of a box so everything is laid out where I can find it and hopefully put back in it's place. I can always replace favorites with top notch stuff.

Yeah, a set is a good starting point. I had one from Screwfix. Have replaced the ratchet with a Halfords Pro and the sockets over the years have become mainly Silverline and Bositool as they've gotten lost.

While looking at a new tool chest for the workshop I came across these on the Halfords site, empty socket set/spanner boxes, down the bottom of the page 3 sizes £9.99 each!

I have a 3/4 inch drive silverline and its awful, none of the sockets can receive any punishment without them splitting the cup- most of them have been welded back together! I notice however the newer silver line set is actually beefed up more on the sockets which should eliminate the problem.

I've never broken a 1/2" one despite the usual punishments metered out. That said, my 3/4 set is a Kamasa one that I picked up locally from an add in the shop window.

I rate the halfords advanced stuff too, and if something breaks is dead asy to get a replacement.
