Never mind the balancing, welding cast is dodgy at the best of times let alone on something what spins at a large amount of revs and has pieces of timber shoved at it. If thats broken like that it should be weighed in and replaced with a real machine!

 

Forst ST6 here :thumbup: Dont think it can be beaten at the moment:001_cool:

Sorry to disappoint you guys but if you have a look at the picture you will see a big assed nut in the middle of the flywheel.

 

What I was welding was mild steel bar to make a box key for than nut, what with not having one to hand and it being a Sunday and wanting the machine back in service on Monday and all.

 

The flywheel was replaced and the old one is destined to be a feature coffee table.

Why not just use a socket??

Its 60mm most sets don't go further than 55 even in 1" drive. A standard box key is to flimsy so I made one for the job.

 

Took half the time to make it than it would have to drive across town to pick a socket up
