ok the misses has just said she will get me a new saw for crimbo how lucky iam so if you had the choice what would it be iam a fan of sthil but i could go over to the dark side

why you say the 540 i have heard nothing but good things like if i could find a brand new ms 200 i would get that but there to hard to get

You ought to try searching for the numerous threads on the toppers, you should find everything you need there.

 

The short version is that they are both good saws, the husky is a bit more powerful, but the stihl has had more time to be tried and tested.

 

I find my 201 to be a decent reliable climbing saw.

No because I was asked a simple question, t540 is the awnser, it's more torque'ie than the 201 and better balenced than the 200t.

Tried a 540, brand new engine (I was the first to run it) and it smoked my 200t!
