Played with the splitter for an hour today and video,d a small clippit

Needed to do a couple more mods to strengthen the frame that mounts the lift ram. Tried the splitter on low revs and it coped very well, high revs it was very fast. But low revs is what I was after. Plenty of splitting power an the two stage pressure system works as well as the built in Thor system ( which I have bypassed for now) you can see the ram comes down onto the log fairly fast and slows onto a power stroke then speeds up again when less power is needed.

Looks a useful tool now. I have in the past weighed up one of the larger four wheel drive ones and wondered whether a little forklift mast could be fitted to make a cheap allterrain forklift. I would only need to pick up bulk bags off logs 300kg ish and the odd pallet.

It's probably cost a couple of hundred quid in parts, the main cost is Labour.

It can be used for anything now, it has two quick attach ports so anything you want to run it will run, I reckon it's doing around 50 lpm so will run lots of things

The splitter weighs 350 kilos, it tilts back but tends to wheeling a bit if you reverse uphill which Ballast weights will sort

Very impressive Dean :thumbup1:

Only thing I would add is some tables either side of the splitter - then you only ever lift the wood once and can work with it until all is split without worrying about bending up and down each time....

Wish I could build stuff like this!
