At last someone else.

I am being made to feel like the bad guy.

If you ain't sweeting you ain't working that's what my old man said!

There is a world of difference between grafting and pushing the envelope too far.

Taking the jogging back as an example, if the lad trips and falls his ambulance chaser is going to say that it was because of the jogging, which is out of the ordinary, they are going to use industry best practice to demonstrate that your practice is dangerous and unreasonable, various publications like the AA last cut syndrome will be cited and your insurer will be on the line for a proper rodgering.

How many hours a day do you expect these guys to do this?

It seems to be all about looking busy.

My guys walk everywhere but they work hard till I tell them to stop.

Some days we finish as 12:30 or 1:00 then we go home.

Work hard, work smart -

Remember the bullock?

'dad, let's run over to the field and service a cow'

'No son, let's walk over to the field and service them all'

I know what you mean about lazy staff. Have a word, you're the boss. I have to say though, if jogging is needed to get the job completed within the day, then you are doing something wrong. Either you need to get the chipper closer to the drop zone, or get more staff.

We regularly smash a job early, then have a barbeque. The problem arises when you're beasting the lads constantly with no breaks or rewards.

im afraid you would be told to insert your job if I was expected jog from the chipper ...

you will find if your picking up lads from the same area word will spread of your working mentality, and you will be left either paying top whack for good subbies.. or having a total numpty as that's all who will want to help you..

Happened to a scaffolding mate of mine, wanted more than was expected by other employers and now struggles to get anyone..

All their doing is selling their time to you, if you pay them well and they work well (not rushing) but consistent.. that's all you can really ask isn't it?
