finally lit the fire

i relented tonight and finally lit the fire as it was down to 16 degrees in the living room. i'm trying to just use the fire and not the central heating to save dosh. as a woodturner i've plenty of offcuts to burn so dont need to buy logs.

 

has anyone else sparked up yet???

Thought about it but resisted - put a sweater on instead.

 

Kindling sales good this week, Hycrack logsplitter sales good and Loadhandler sales also. Winter drawers on tell the wife

genraly i'm happy to resist untill about 10 degrees in just jeans and a t'shirt but my mum is an o.a.p. so have to think of her a little bit.

 

i have told her how to keep all the heat in though as she will happily sit there wasting money with the curtains open and doors ajar letting all the heat escape.

I tried telling the wife and boys that. 30 mins later guess what! Still not put any heating on yet, though my3yr old did stack a bunch of logs next to the fire lol

Yep first one yesterday as elderly relatives came over, ended up having doors open as far too hot in the end.

 

Started it again today amd its just dying down now. Still too warm in the kitchen where the stove is but the rest of the rooms are great.

Not yet, had to remove log burner as the chimney sweep condemned it, have just finished alterations to the chimney breast and orfered the bits to refit so all being well should be up and running again by next weekend

yep, lit the fire here in Pembrokeshire for the first time today. Been burning a fallen oak branch; the rounds were all cut with a Silky Natanoko.... free sustainable heat. cozy!
