What to do with clean sawdust?

Hi there,

 

I have bags upon bags of dry and very clean sawdust, probably getting on for a transit van full. It has come from cross cutting hardwood and softwood on my Japa over the winter. I was lined up to sell it to someone who makes pellets but that has fallen through.

 

I am based on the Surrey/Sussex border. Anyone in the area on the lookout for a regular supply of clean sawdust and is prepared to pay something for it? Can deliver locally.

I am burning mine every day on a bonfire. I do have a pellet boiler but pelleting it is a science and you need to beb properly tooled up for it. One of the downsides of selling it for pelleting is that unless its clean ( ie blown into a container) then the contaminates from the ground wont do the pelleter any good.

Sawdust mixed into slurry is hardly going to notice so why not ask a farmer if he'll take it if it's just to get rid of it?

I know there are precious few slurry producing animals round here (horses, horses, horses ) but there are still one or two real farms.

sell it to the horse people with mats thats where mine goes

i mix it in wi the woodchip, by time its been turned a few times ,cant tell its in there

Give it to someone who makes bricks in exchange for the odd bag.

Put it in small bags and sell it to a pet shop

put it in juice cartons, mix it with waste veggie oil, and burn it on the fire

I give mine to a guy for his ducks they love nesting in it

i got in contact with a local guy who has chickens for meat and whenever i get too much from my woodturning i give him a call and he takes it away.

 

this way i get a clean shop and he gets free bedding.
