Normally I am up 6:30, in the garage for 7:00. Get the van loaded making sure I am on site between 7:30/8:00.

Finish at around 17:00

Quotes evening and weekends.

Servicing chipper, saws and other gear on a Sunday.

Worked yesterday Saturday for someone else, up at 5:30 and got in at 21:30

Wednesday was a late one too, again climbing foe someone else, got home at 21:50.

Glad you come?

Remember when I was employed in at 7:30 knock off at 16:00/16:30.

Had a life back then. Striking a work home life balance is hard when you are a fledgling company.

I hope when I am more established that I can have at least one day off a week where I can just not do anything work related, other than arbtalk!

Are we on schedule?

Horatio u need to watch out doing that many hrs u will burn out.

Admittedly i used to do similar but have learnt the hard way that its just not healthy.

my days are up at 6 then, work , price and pc off by 6 on a good day, 930-10 on a bad day.

But i am learning to delegate the majority of climbing out to my guys as i cant do it all anymore. it has made a massive difference.

And sometime u just have to say "ive reached my capacity" and then switch off.

I never check emails/ phone calls on a sunday ( unless a message is left saying its an emergency). Its hard enough that u need at least 1 day a week off.

Plus if and when kids come along they grow damn fast. Ive blinked and my boy is 7yrs old! cant tell exactly where those yrs went.

And others will most like agree if your doing a job for somebody else and getting in at 930pm or so then something is seriously wrong. either they need to change or u need to be earning a good wack out of it. otherwise they are taking the micky.

and just because you are new it doesnt mean u have to charge peanuts. all that happens is u work like a dog and u will keep the tight customers for ever who dont ever want to pay anymore. later on this will end up costing u even more cos u wont be out there charging new customers a fair rate as u will be doing the tight ones. trust me i know i still have a few as much as i try to shake them :)

Thats my 2ps worth.

I try and have time where work doesn't feel like work.

Servicing saws and chipper etc. at evenings and weekends isn't much of a chore with some tunes on, a few cold ones and/or my 3 year-old daughter 'helping' me.

I try and enjoy my pricing as well.

I find office work especially enjoyable if its lashing down outside and the kettle is permanently on.
