Pensioner Dies Cutting Down Tree

Nobody else got hurt :confused1:

And nobody deserves to be spoken ill of when facts are not fully known!

If you have never done anything minor on the wrong side of the law i applaud you. And if you do anything minor on the wrong side of the law in the future i hope you don't pay with your life.

If its stupid and dangerous and I died through my own fault, I wouldn't want the sympathetic attitude, I know what I'm capable of, I wouldn't do the plumbing and gas in my house, I wouldn't repair my vehicle in a major way and I don't touch electricity, I work with trees, they require enough of my thought, we've all heard plenty of stories about chainsaw accidents, I remember a few accidents in the papers in 2011, which is enough to tell me (as someone who relies on these tools as a livelihood) that you need to pay the utmost attention

Tis a pity I left the wee camera on charge today, after recording my successfully heroic resuue yesterday.

Else I would have photographed before and after photos of the bunch of windthrown Lodgepole Pine I cut today.

Biggest was more than the 500mm bar on the wee 026, at the butt, and most leaning at about 30 deg to the horizontal with pulled root plates, all intertwined.

A completely untrained (apparenty) uncertificated country boy laid them safely down with zero fuss.

I also do my own mechanicing, electrics and plumbing.

As in over 40 years or so.

Wit Zero certification.

I am currently 53, & me and my family are all still well.

We are ALL different.

I am not that good socially.

Perhaps a trifle Aspbegers afflicted or whatever.

Marcus

PS

I used to enjoy playing with PE4/explosives

Would we have a different view if it turned out this old boy was after free wood to sell on to his neighbours? We're all assuming on both sides of the fence here. What if the old fella had waltzed into your front garden and nailed a tree just for the wood. It all depends on your perspective.

Very true. None of us on here know the full circumstances, only what we've seen in 1 report. All perspectives at this stage are valid, even the unpalatable ones.

Until we know more it's just speculation.

Just watched the news on itv about the cop claiming for falling on the curb.

They interviewed a senior officer who said, he was against it, claims were there for genuine injuries or accidents.

The next time they played the interview they cut the bit where he said he was against the claim, making him sound as though he approved of the officers actions.

The media will tell a story the way they want to, to achieve the biggest emotive response, which sadly many people fall for.
