I found its something that has lessened with time. I used to be pretty high strung a few years ago, specially at work, as Andy Collins would attest to. These days I actually hardly give a toss about anything.....very little phases me work wise.....but I dont know what the magic forumula is except for simply removing anything from your life that is causing negativity

 

My answer is diametrically opposite to Steve's.

I worry increasingly about things.

The reason for this is that I've become aware that every year that passes is one year less in front of me.

Therefore, I feel if something goes badly wrong I'll be working harder with fewer years to catch up or set things straight.

 

I realise this is horribly pessimistic and I must try to correct this attitude. I'm actually going to correct my frame of mind by May.

Just to clear up a myth or two about seeing the doctor for depression ( which is a mental health problem)

 

Many FAC holders will allow a problem to continue and progressively get worse because they are frightened to death of losing their FAC

 

Licensing authority's now would rather you seek treatment for a depressive illness than hide it and keep quiet.

 

Seeking help is seen as a responsible course of action and will be looked upon favorably whereas knowingly not seeking action can be seen as irresponsible.

 

Treatment for depression does not mean taking tablets and ending up in lala land. There are treatments now ( citrilopram for example) that you can take and still operate heavy machinery, drive, carry out your normal everyday tasks and even drink within reason. It works by stopping your body re absorbing serotonin, the feel good hormone.

 

Depression usually occurs when levels of serotonin are very low, usually because of the grind and strain of everyday life, you will not be producing enough. When you exercise or do something exhilarating endorphins are released including serotonin. The problem is, serotonin is re absorbed so if you are not exercising enough or not doing things you enjoy enough it will become depleted.

 

You can quite happily be being treated for a " mental illness" of which depression is and still quite happily hold an FAC

The best advise I can give is find a good hypnotherapist and get them to teach you self hypnosis.

Be very carefull of doctors with some of the drugs they may use to help you out, sure go get checked out, that can't do you any harm at all, thats imo of course.

Whatever you do don't do nothing.

Id always been a stress head, most of my life, until around a year and a half ago. then everything fell apart inside of me, and several know the story well enough to save me repeating myself.

ive changed my lifestyle, i dont get wound up any more. i changed the type of clients and i changed how i bill for jobs. i now have quite a relaxed lifestyle. I find myself getting wound now and again, and I stop and take a breath. Stop chasing every penny, stop driving yourself into a vicious circle. you cant take it with you. Put the answerphone on and take the dog for a walk. Learn to chill out. Properly. Its only work after all. :001_smile:
