A MOG and A Run in with VOSA !!!!

Recommended Posts

so far after reading through the vosa opperators guide it would appear that there is a possible exemption -

a vehicle with equipment permanently

attached to it for the life of that vehicle.

Examples of such equipment include

permanently fixed machines or

appliances. Additionally, the only other

goods or burden that such vehicles are

allowed to carry are those essential

for use in connection with that fixed

equipment. As a general rule, loose tools,

cooking equipment, foodstuffs, furniture

or display units of any kind or other

articles that are not a permanent fixture

on the vehicle would not constitute

goods that are essential for the use of

the fixed equipment.

surely a wood chipper fixed via a 3pl linkage could me made to be fixed !! and wood chip is carried as a coincidence ??

No.

The "use in connection to equipment" would be a for example a Concrete pump carrying concrete,or a mobile crane carrying its counter weights.

I tried this route in Norway when I bought my Mog.Welding the Chjpper to the linkage was not enough because the linkage was designed to be removed.

These are EU wide regs by the sound of it.

Your going to have to use and pay for the Mog as a Truck.Or sell it and buy a Tractor.

lets clear things up did the chap who rang did he give you his name, and his title.

NO someone is winding you up sad people.

yes did he give you his number to ring him back ,no again scam.

if yes ring the number and see what you get.

VOSA will not ring you to say you need this type of licence. if the truck is registered with a log book then you are ok

if you are still concerned then go to the local VOSA testing station and get them to check it and see what they have to say . if you are not hauling with it only using it as a agg truck then you are ok.

must have a test station near you. have one in most big towns. plus what i find very strange is they would have sent you a letter to say that the have evidence that you have been using truck for such and can you explain if truck is being used for X or Y. not ring smells very smelly. maybe wrong

It does smell fishy. Vosa will not take time to call someone and say you need an o license. They will wait until the police inform them or have a big tip off.

Have you had to inform them of any changes recently? Or have you been pulled by the police recently?
