Overloaded

Reading the article it seems all the commentators and politicians were concerned about was the new height alarm system in the tunnel causing tailbacks. 

 

Not one mention about it being overloaded, or any safety concerns.

I'm intrigued, it went one of two ways:

 

Like the old lady who swallowed a fly, they set out in the smaller van but it broke down, so they fetched a bigger one to carry it. Then that one broke down.....

 

 

Or did they start with the tractor, put a truck on the back and think "Hey, that's an empty truck right there, we could put another truck on it" and then when they'd loaded that one think "Hey that's an empty truck right there.....

Hmm. I removed one wheel after a blow out and the studs turned in the drum! Empty trailer and it was dark and it was only 90 miles home!

Have done likewise (but removed matching wheel from other side of axle) - surely it depends on what the actual load on the axle is vs the rated capacity per axle?

I have spoke to someone who was tasked with moving a piece of equipment on a tri axle trailer. 10 mins into his journey, the back axle gave up, and having parked in a layby with a load of travellers , he decided not the best place to leave it. So he removed bothe rear wheels, and continued on his 90 mile journey without furthe issue.

Hi load weighed in at  nearly 7 tons!!
