Nature of the beast with selling logs and joe public - but these sort of calls are only usually a one off... just be polite and they may be turn out to be a good customer...

They may have had a reason for calling so early (although I can't really think of one!) who knows but try them first and see what they say....

True, but they are clearly a strange person, with little or no concern for others, is this really the kind of customer you want??

No customer is better than the wrong customer, IME.

If they have money, hell yes, the customer is king.

The call went to the machine so you can deal with the response at a time to suit you.

There is no point blowing off a sales lead you paid for and even less point pissing someone off to bad mouth you to his mates whenever firewood comes up in conversation down the pub.

With Customers you never know what their situation is, might have been on holiday and got back late last night , might have used up all his logs due to the snow. Yes he probably should have realised before Sunday morning that his supply was getting low but he hasn't.

Best thing is to smile, take a breath and get paid for delivering logs to a happy customer who might recommend you to his friends.

A tree falling can be an emergency and usually unforeseen, how can some one only realise they are out of logs at 7.42 on a Sunday morning?????

Its OK saying turn the phone off and let the machine take the call, but we need our phones on for emergencies or family calls.

well maybe a mobile number for log orders and a seperate number for family and friends might be a solution or accept when dealing with the public these things are going to crop up and try to be a little bit more tolerant deep breath and dont be grumpy

Might it be considered that you have already done a 70 hours week and need a bit of me time off.

I wouldn't ring a business that early on a Sunday morning, it's inconsiderate and selfish, that type of customer can stick their logs. Logs in tree surgery should only be a sideline anyway, if I were so desperate as to grasp at every single potential log customer then I would consider a career change.
