With a chipper that small you will never see it behind a truck that size. BIG truck BIG chipper job done.

yeah i keep thinking it will be a total nightmare hence my original plan of mounting it.. alot of my work is for a local estate and they have there firewood bussiness so they pretty much want all the timber over 5" and chip anything less..

a large chipper would be nice when reversing but tbh it seems a bit daft when im only chipping brash..

Looks a good truck. How are you going to register it and make it road legal? My friend and I looked in to this last year when talking to one of the main dealers who had a yard full of them. They were talking about a couple of grand to make road legal and it would be down to us to do. The load capacity also put us off as by the time you have mounted a crane you would be down to a few ton.

Keep us posted with pics though as I do like these trucks and we keep thinking there must be a reason why we need one (other than the fact we like them!!).

i rang DVLA before i put a deposit on the truck, im going down the foresty / ag registration.. they want £55.00 pounds for registration that includes an age related plate..

when you say £55 for an age related plate and registration, what does this involve? i am thinking of going down the same route but am not sure whats actually involved in registering as ag.. i understand the limitations, but my work does not require me to travel far, just need the heavy weight capability, and also the other benefits that come with owning a big rig!

will your vehicle have to have inspection? or is it as simple as send of registration and fee, and wait for new documents?

any help is much appreciated,

regards TTC

A few pics of our DAF, the problem with having the crane mounted where it is on the back is it limits the length of timber it will carry unless you can tow a trailer.

DAF is a good truck but it's not a Unimog and never will be or do the same amount of work.
