Couple of pictures the guy I was grafting for today managed to take.

We removed a Dead Cedar last week at this care home and today was a mature Cedar to take out. Tree had a fair bit of decay at the base and a couple of old wounds mid way up the trunk. But of a tangled mess but got her done in decent time. But of a lean and a bit of a breeze so I smashed about 7 limbs off then went down to give the lads a hand. Then the rest of the green and down again. Then the stem to felling height.

Most of the limbs were fairly long and end weighted. Just used the coos bay, or my version of it at least. Basically undercut on 45 degrees for both sides and then fast cutting from the top to join them up. Pop! And down they float. Also had a run out with the rebuilt, ported and dual muffled 660. She is getting better with every tank!

Tidy joe, birch and beech are my favourites to reduce. Tree of heaven or Indian bean tree are my least.

Cheers Ian. It had been topped a while ago. Made an interesting climb for the trainee.

I eyed him in for a bit, then got impatient and nipped up to do one side, and eyed him on the rest.

Usually when I'm happy with a reduction I get the feeling the client will want more off. Luckily she was very pleased.
