The first clip. I hope it was self lowered or your groundy wants a slap!

Fair point, I’ll explain.

I had a rigging point back towards the central stem with a rigging ring, we had taken loads of stuff with it successfully.

I went out on the limb with every intention of using it to bring the limb round in one or two goes.
Once out there I was unsure it wouldn't drop too far before the rope caught it, plus there would be a huge swing towards the house and it would be too dynamic if you know what I mean.

So I decided to keep the rigging point but use some natural crotch (ie. A half hitch) to rope the end of the limb off itself in two goes.

I couldn’t be arsed to haul up another pulley or ring to make it smooth or (as my nephew suggested after seeing the clip) use a zipline so I did a self lower using natural friction.

He clearly stated it was self lowered.

Can’t you speak French?

Fair enough Mick, I should've started with "fair play, that's a man sized tree".

I self lower plenty of stuff if it doesn't merit getting a rigging line sent up or whatever. Not sure I'd have much enjoyed shock loading that old girl though!

Plenty of different ways to go about cutting trees though. No criticism here.

Bit of NTS work this week opening up the Balmacara village green. Canopy thinning & balancing up to 35ft, deadwood out, ground biodiversity opened up. Indy chilling for perspective. 🙃image.thumb.jpeg.b4d0085a656ec8a8bd7b074e99446fbe.jpegimage.thumb.jpeg.2a3c663b477f88b16538a48ef6066c43.jpeg

Taking out some pops yesterday with a crane.

I was slinging some chains for Danny Mac and nearly got a dunking trying to recover his ear defender when it pinged off after he had reached his anchor point.

2 1/2 loads of chip, all timber ‘stacked’ on site.

Last pick was just over 3t.

I said to client the other day when he said ‘stacked’ it’s important we get the terminology right ‘piled’ would be a better description of what’ll happen.

Nice pics.
