Felling some tall spruce on a steep hillside.

Made worse by them leaning uphill.

I had to fell the trunks full length and deal with them sliding back at me by fleeing full speed in terror.

Makes me think of this bit of uphill felling that GB posted on the house the other day. 
Don’t fancy this one running down the hill at you!

been out with the mulcher a couple of times recently. don’t really like getting into heavy mulching jobs really but i don’t mind a bit of woodland rhody work if there’s space to get in without beating the tractor up. generally get in with a little 360 at the same time and windrow any stuff that i can’t easily get.

 

also it’s really handy to have just for a final tidy round on clearance type jobs as well

It'd be the ride of your life, sudden stop at the end might be a bit of a downer

Not today, but forgot the lowering device on a job taking down oaks. 
 

No need to go back to the yard though!

You know the old saying:

Necessity is the mother of invention

She is also the auntie of further wear on old ropes

Had the luxury of a proficient climber on the job today. 
Meant I could stay on the deck, run the ropes, drive the loader and help the groundy. 
Crazy leaning poplar over old bridge, road, power lines. to remove. 
Got bigger all day if you know what I mean.
