Open (active) or closed (no new burials) cemetery Jay?  Looks to be a closed cemetery. Some interesting additional considerations apply to cemetery trees and the status of the cemetery (open or closed.)

Was it a LA contracted job?

It’s an active cemetery as they are still conducting burials at the moment. The graves near the tree are all very old apart from some memorial plaques. The area where I’m stood to take the pic has lots of newer burials as does the section to the rear of the church. The church warden buried his wife there this year so very much open still.

It wasn’t an LA job, the contractor was brought in by the warden and vicar at the church, although they were liaising with the LA regarding the works. Not sure if the works were the result of a recent survey but I would assume so.

It was a bit, but two up and done in 1.5 hours.

hardest part was setting lines.  3 throw lines stuck and luckily on the last cube I got top anchor. ;)

Bet you breathed a sigh of relief there 👍

You using a big shot or hand throwing?

Hand throwing.

Joe (my mate) had both his throw lines stuck.  My main throw line was stuck also.  I used a second line which I have lost the Harrison rocket, so threw with a sawpod / throw pod.  Luckily didn’t get a “Rick ‘O’ Shea” and it went over 2nd shot.

I dont like using the throwpod around buildings.  I once fired one with a big shot, it untied the throw line somehow in flight.  It went perfectly through the crotch at the top of a bit Larch...  then kept on going and going and going.

We heard a smack as it hit a roof somewhere in the distance and found it two gardens away.  It came down from a great height, I was very surprised it didn’t smash some roof tiles.

Big old Elm. Died suddenly about three years ago had only a touch of DED may have been a combination of age and DED

Four foot diameter trunk weighed over three tons and the Matbro did not like it as it is only rated at 2.7 tons so red lights flashing but it drove well with no rear end lift.  Lucas Mill to see what is inside next job  Hopefully some nice floor boards  Two more 15 foot lengths to bring back

I bought a cheap (£10) little angle finder off Amazon for measuring height with trigonometry so I thought I would give it a go.  It said that the tree was 63 feet tall and we measured it after felling at 64 feet.  Load of rubbish machine, I think I should send it back !
