I had better grind those welding marks that go all around the front door pillars and underneath then. :blushing::laugh1:

We need new door bottoms on both sides but dad and i are hoping that theyr arent part of the MOT. We had the chassis patched up but we are going to ask the garage to do a Pre-MOT-MOT check so they can check for any major faults then rectify them before the big test/check then any minor issues can be put as advisories. Tempted to book it in for 8.30 on Monday before the MOT...

I have a problem developing on my discovery 1, was driving and the diff lock light was flickering on the dash.

Lever is ok, was doing about 30mph, have been using it shortly to get in and out of a gateway but that's it.

I can feel it engaging when the light flickers, a bit worried its going to come on and stay on, is there a way if disengaging it at the axle?

The electric on/off switch will be sticking on the transfer box. It's on the top right of the transfer box where it meets the gearbox, pull off the 2 pos neg wires and unscrew.Clean it and screw it back in but you'll have to dick about with the threaded stop/lock nut on it to make sure its not set too deep or it will show that the diff is locked when its not.Thats the way I remember it anyway

Thought about the electric issue but I could feel the diff engage when I was driving.

Had a look at he linkage today and nothing was wobbling about. Drove it today fine, so I'm guessing that the prev owner didn't use the diff or low range and I have started using it lately getting in and out of fields and up grass banks. So I'm guessing I have freed it up a bit. Thats what I'm hoping anyway as I really don't want to drop the box off it to remove the lock so it's safe to drive.

Oh an da huge thanks to worcswuss for the info.

The electric switch screws into the transfer box casing and theres a spring loaded plunger on the end of it.When the linkage within the box (not outside from the lever) passes by the switch into the engaged position it pushesthe plunger back up into the switch making a circuit bringing the dash light on.Sometimes the plunger on the end of the switch gets gunged up with stale gearbox oil etc and sticks in the "on" position even though you may have disengaged the difflock.Just a remove and clean does the trick . Never had to replace one myself unless the pos or neg tabs were cream crackered . But like you say a bit of usage might free it up.Check both box oil levels aswell:thumbup1:

Afternoon all Ive just acquired a land rover 110 double cab pick up, after paying for it in full i thought i take it to get to a land rover specialist and have the suspension amended. to cut a long story short he has told me that the mot is a pile of c*** and it was going to cost a lot to fix the problems. I have neither the time or finance to undertake these jobs myself, these faults were verified by a second Mechanic. Reason for the moan is i need to sell it and the private plate it came with A11OTD. It is a 300 tdi original date of registration 11/89 does any body have an idea of value, (both mechanics said it would cost £2000 for them to do the work). Please help

Land Rover did not produce the 110 double cab until the late 1990s and the 300TDi was not introduced until 1994 so somebody has obviously modified it at some time. I would have thought a 1989 Land Rover would only be worth £2500 to £4000 in fair to good condition.
