What are people's experiences with non OEM ignition coils? I've just ordered one for a saw I need by Friday and now slightly worried....

The only one I have used was for a combi unit and the ignition timing was completely wrong! I believe it was just the manufacturers lack of understanding that there were a number of crank/flywheel variants!

Whats it for Matt, often you can get OEM from ebay. The only issue I would have is reliabillity and how good the ignition timing advance and retard compares to the OEM unit!

I thought that may be the case Steve ... It's for the 395 , my last experience of buying a non OEM part for that saw was a clutch that didn't fit!

There was an OEM coil on eBay but it was state side.

Fingers crossed it works OK!

Near my bench today is my road tow log splitter . The cows got through the electric and tipped it over . I think they have broken the carb as petrol leaks now . Ordered a new carb .

Stihl 020 from 1998. Got it from a caretaker. Started but won't idle.

Judging by what appears to be a layer of dust, start by replacing the rubber bits, fuel filter and a carb clean.
