Finally off for the last few days, however it’s forecast to be down to just above zero next week. Thank god for the sawmill, we’ve burnt so much more wood this year than last.

Same here but we are in the south so a good deal warmer than many here.

I have got 2/3 through my 3rd and last bay of firewood so not much left in reserve. First 2 bays refilled and just prevaricating about to filling up the last bay with fresh logs in case it turns cold again and I need access to the dry stuff.

I'm glad I took note of whoever here suggested having dividers for bays in the log shed as it is less of a chore than logging everything between now and end of May.

Squirrel the last of the dry stuff away in boxes, bins etc round the house. If you need it, you burn it. If you don’t, it’s a bonus start to next season. And you can get the last bay filled with fresh.

Interesting idea, would get very short shrift from most wives I reckon.

Fire today, but got coal delivery at the weekend (it can sit in the garage till next season) - I tend to burn a bucket from each sack to make them easier to carry, probably an age thing, else wouldn't have bothered, 19 deg first thing in the coldest spot of the house, no need at all for a fire
