Its not an area i’m really familiar with tbh, there used to be a landmark cafe up there for bikers to stop off at i was told, on the peak of the moor on the bend, but it burned down apparently. The site was cleared and demolished and its just now an open area to pull up at. I didn’t stop when i was up there but there were a lot of bikes and folks gathered there when i rode past. Very enticing road to ride, mixture of all scenarios, tight and twisty, long and flowing, but is notorious for accidents and fatalities as a result.

I’m marshalling the Beamish Trophy Trial tomorrow if anyone’s interested in 1918-1980 (approximately) bikes being used properly. Lovely morning out. Smells fabulous.

Lovely day for it. Our station is a quiz. Riders come in from the hills or road and pull up to one of the ladies. Today’s questions were 80s Jap bikes nicknames. A field of riders mostly on BSAs, Villiers, Greeves etc weren’t all that interested. Fair comment really. Past years’ questions were highway code history, identify silhouettes of Brough Superiors etc. More the scene.

Not many mechanicals this year. Usually quite a lot of wet points, difficult restarting once they’ve knocked it off to hear the quiz. Did get a foot long adjustable out as a prop but only thought of it too late. Amused some bloke who’d come up from Sheffield to follow on his GS.
