How much for Nissan D22 Pickup Load of logs slightly heaped up

ah, now then ben, you have highlighted an important factor that i forgot to take into account... because i use the load handler i have fitted ply on both sides in order to keep most of the load in the in middle and away from the wheel arches. i'll have a measure up

 

:thumbup1: Yeah cool system, haven't seen an unloading system like that before on a jeep, but I like the concept (similar to one of those chain drive conveyor muck spreaders)

 

Is that a gizmo you rigged up yourself, or is it available to buy somewhere?

Any video's of your system in action, I would be interested to see how you rig the end of the mat up closest the cab, because in my mind, if you dumped logs in on it as it is in the photo, as soon as you start to wind in the mat, it simply slides out from under the load leaving it behind.

i now tend to have the sheet come up from the floor to just below window level, and pin it there with a stick cut to just jam up nicely between the two sides and touch the ply lined front of the buck, thus sandwiching the sheet between the stick and the ply. this seems to help move the bulk of the load, on a good day they'll be 10 logs to hand-ball out, on a bad day a wheel barrow full. still better than shifting a whole cube though!:thumbup1:

Chris, Did you have a measure up ?

 

Just curious what the buck of your truck holds.

just measured up. allowing for "hopper sides" i've got a space of 1.20 cubic meters. so when you consider that a cm vented bag is tipped in and not jounced in the truck bed (don't like to think what that might do to my springs...:001_tongue:) it stands to reason that it will be ever so slightly heaped.

so yeah steve, i guess if it were proper heaped you could get 1.5 cube in there.

 

gets me thinking, i suppose by jouncing the bag on the pallet tines when filling i'm actually putting more than one cubes worth of wood in there, when you consider that if you were filling a potato box for instance with an internal volume of one cm the contents would not settle any where near so much when also jounced, hope that makes sense.:confused1:
