Cordless drills, opinions?

I see a hitachi with two lith ion bats for £100 in screw fix catalogue stood out as a bargain if they are any good. I need a new cordless give my Panasonic a bit of a poor review on this thread thinking it was just over 5 years old but looked this week and it 11 years old so its done good.

Hey Mr T, not seen you about for ages!

 

I use Makita these days, find them good enough. I've also got an old Bosch, must be 12+ years old, it's so good that i got new batteries for it a couple of times.

 

Mate of mine uses the Hitachi cordless drills he swears by them and they are a lot lighter than most of the other makes.

I would check the specs of the ones at screwfix,as I mentioned earlier im fairly sure they are the diy ones and the batteries are usually lower amps

Have a look at the ones on ffx website and compare.

Dewalt by far the best option in my opinion. And make sure you buy 2 batteries..

I have 3 Dewalt 18v LI drills and have not had any problems . The batteries can be charged at any state of dis charge with out getting a memory . When they do run out its just like turning a switch . Non of that annoying slowing down and maybe I could just get a bit more out of it etc etc . Fast charge to . If money is no object then yes , Milwaukee . If not Dewalt are pretty good .

Dewalt for me...get a decent 1 with a metal gearbox as the plastic ones are pap! had this 1 18 month and its been hammered and is still going strong

Had a 3 speed metal gearbox Dewalt for years and it was great. Got a 2 speed cheaper model without a metal gearbox and it's not of the same caliber.

Dewalt 18v here as well , great tools but battery life is rubbish. The torch though lasts for months on one charge

You can fit the LI batteries to those . They don't match the profile but they fit and work just fine . Then you will have long battery life .
