Maybe you are not aware of a problem as you see things as the norm just how they are for you . But , that saw that finally gave up back in whenever may still be going now if run on Aspen . .......possibly :001_smile:

I get years out of my saws, many, many years and even if aspen extended there lives the extra cost of the fuel would be greater that the reduced cost in replacement saws. Plus new saws are more fun than expensive fuel :001_smile:

It just don't add up, IMO, plus I simply could not be arsed with buying my fuel in from one supplier, plus the storage, etc, etc.

You baulk at the thoughts of filtering fuel, but are happy to jump through the hoops of buying from once source and storing highly flammable liquid. Have you had to increase your insurance cover? or do they simply not know?

So you don't actually know?

No, I do not know for sure, hence my reserved statement.

But I have spent a lot of time trying to find any evidence of any 'high grade' fuels that contain no ethanol, and so far have found none.

Maybe you can find some evidence for me Dave, as I have given up.

My belief, until proven otherwise, is that all UK pump fuels contain ethanol in rates up to 10%.

The irony is If we weren't paying Road fuel duty on top of everything else on aspen it wouldn't be as expensive

Sent from my D5803 using Arbtalk mobile app

There is no irony, as we pay road fuel duty on standard fuel, so if it was cut for Aspen ,they would have to offer standard petrol for none road use also without duty, so the price difference would remain.

Do any of the equipment manufacturers void their warranty if pump fuel is used?

In a way some do.

Honda, for instance, will not warrant their carburettors on new machines once they have left the dealers premises after PDI as they realise the problems that often occur from usage with petrol.

I use aspen now because most of my 2 stroke stuff can sit for weeks/ months without being used. I know I could empty out the tanks and run the machines dry but can't be arsed.

I even put it in my Scooter when it's parked-up for the winter.

Not sure I'd want to use Aspen if a was running machines all day every day mind.

Is that even legal? and has it been tested in court?, "not fit for purpose" springs to mind. Does the operators manual stipulate that pump fuel cannot be used?

I have several honda engines, all of which have only ever seen pump fuel (one a 1994 quad) they all run without issue and virtually no servicing.

It's easy to cover in the pricing. It's rare for me to go through more than 1/2 can in a day unless I am cutting all day so it's not a vast amount of difference to make up. :001_smile:
