I’ve never had a mog, and I may well be shot down in flames.

But unless your getting a very good condition one, or you really really need one,I’d steer well clear.

Get some all terrain tyres on the tranny in the winter and battle through.

Alternatively look at getting a proper tractor.

As mick says …. There is and always has been a lot of dogs out there , unless you where spending 40k and not from Vos I would not even consider one… if anything goes wrong like brakes it will be a 1 k minimum repair bill.

we had few 900’s and a 1000 over the years and for the best part they sat in the yard as no one wanted to drive a slow ,left hand drive monstrosity to site… the fact you don’t want to use a chipper on one would remove about the only plus point they do have as being able to use a large chipper off road has its benefits although they are no where near as good as a standard tractor in off road ability… I’ve seen them stuck on ploughed Feilds… that’s just my two pence worth… personally I would go the land rover or 4x4 pick up route

A mog just to get up steep drive way is a bit OTT as said 4x4 truck or even different make or 2wd truck with low gear reverse. I bought a Toyota land cruiser swb a couple of years ago and reverse is to high to back full trailer up any slope.

Drove alot of truck in my time and the best geared was Bedford CF.

4x4 tipper would seem to be handy, we used one Friday. Surprisingly small chip box, but then it was big enough for what we produced reducing a hedge, fitted on the driveway which my trailer would not have.

If you keep the transit then you have a vehicle for bigger jobs.

may as well spam the page with something I can't afford - Iveco Daily 4x4. No PTO for chipper, but good road speed and handling. Would need to be more than 3.5ton to get any payload. So presumably an operating licence. Never seen one, only the one Stephen Blair on  here had briefly.

There was a reason I had it briefly,it didn’t do what a mog does.

mogs have Ptos, pto chippers were always a 3rd the price of rd tow, run it on cherry, free rd tax no Mot or tacho hassle.

If by looking at 1 you can’t see the benefits then don’t bother buying 1, it’s not for you.

I work in towns, never had a spotter.  Not much different than driving a 6 cylinder tractor with that long bonnet, then add a roof mount and grab on grab bar, that’s a front end.
Some people look for problems so you’ll find them.  Make it work is my way of doing things.

Okay I think you guys have made yourselves quite clear.

I have a double cab pick up which is okay for the odd tiny job, no tipper on it and I wouldn't entertain one as all the load is past the back wheels.

Try finding one of the older 4x4 Ivecos I don't think I have seen one since a previous employer had one as a mewp in 2009.
