Amusing comments from keyboard warriors.  I am the neighbour who took the photos and published the video.  Height quoted is as per tree survey, clearly folks here know better, as per usual internet forums. Lol.

It was a very time consuming job.  Felling works was over 10 working days, involved 4 men and took place 8am - 1pm each day.  After lunch, rest of day was clearing up and disposing of spoils off-site with London traffic to account for.

As for price, no idea as that is neighbours problem and I don't care   Personally, glad to see the back of it as my house was at risk from tree falling being downwind of prevailing SW breeze.

The council approved the works within a couple of days as arborist declared tree in urgent need of felling (conservation area, but no TPO).  However it took a lot of badgering of the council to get them to coerce the neighbour to take action; neighbour did not want to pay, but ultimately had no choice as firmly on his land.

Not keyboard warriors, just some very experienced individuals who have been doing the job for a long time.

Thanks for chiming in.  Always good to hear a back story.  10 days is still a long time for a tree but I get what you’re saying having lived and worked in London for 20 years.

The crew could have been based in Crystal Palace for example, at least an hour and a half travel there and back to Chiswick when you take into account travel time.  If the guys doing the job are on a contract of 8 hours a day then it figures they would knock off at 1 to try and get back in decent time.

So you took the pictures and made the video?

Are you a tree worker then or just a curtain twitcher?

Well explained.

No one is getting that down in a day, there’s not enough room on the ground.

The drag must have been horrendous.

I shifted the timber from a similar sized beech last year that a decent company took 4 days to get on the ground, albeit days were probably 8-4.

When I say shifted, I stacked it in the garden with a mini loader.

The customer then hired in a decent hydraulic splitter and sorted himself out with a lifetimes supply of firewood.
