I’ve been around 11 n half stone since I was a teenager, my mate said today, you need to put some weight on, I’m sure I don’t, I eat well. Would you think 11 n half stone at 5’8” is far out?

Reckon you're fine, not in need of more weight at all. Looks like you're getting towards the upper limit of healthy weight band on the old BMI chart actually .

Obesity has become normalised now, that's the isdue. People's perception of "normal" weight has shifted to the right, (same as it has in politics).

Bmi is mostly irrelevant as it doesn't distinguish between fat and muscle at my fittest I was obese according to the BMI scale!

I wouldn't get too caught up on weight some people naturally carry more muscle than others as long as your generally healthy you should be fine!

I wouldn't say it's irrelevant, it's a starting point if nothing else to give a general idea of what's right and wrong, if you can't see the person in front of you. Though I agree, it's not great. Most rugby players come out as obese.

I think there's some new, better, metric being used now. Based on relative waist size or something.
