middle ground firewood tree (growth rate vs burn quality)

just looking for a bit of a discussion/suggestions for some good trees to plant for firewood with a longer cycle that will produce some decent logs, woodland i own has lots of hazel/willow growing throughout so not really interested in trees best suited to src. was thinking poplar due to good growth rate into a single large trunk but have heard its not very good firewood but not sure. honestly just looking for suggestions, fairly wet ground through winter due to a decent sized stream a couple feet below where i would plant.

Ok I will start ……..       Leyland cypress fast growth not bad firewood

Alder grows pretty fast coppices & likes wet ground.

If it is wet ground I would consider that more than the species perhaps, 100 middle ground trees not thriving or 100 fast growing water loving trees thriving? Wet loving trees - Alder, silver birch as above, and if willow and hazel are going well why not stick to what you know does well?

I'd chuck elm in the mix too, coppices and suckers well and you'd fell it before it gets infected.

Sweet chestnut unless your on clay, then it’s growth rate slows but that makes it more dense so possibly better firewood but less of it.

Avoid sweet chestnut if you have an open fire

Cricket bat willows get money for butt and plenty of firewood out of top, bloke in next village to me sells bat willow logs in net for £5. Must have nearly 500 planted on his ground got them in a cycle so some cut every year.
