Well the article mentions the NT, but like @Stere and @richyrich have said.

If these organizations are so committed to spending so much time and effort extolling the rewilding & climate change stuff over such huge acreages of worthless low quality grazing.

It's not exactly difficult or expensive to start with a hedgerow and just make it wider at almost zero cost Vs trying to force smaller landowners like myself into sacrificing lowland fields.

Made more fuss about this tree locally and nationally than the 15 year old lass that was stabbed to death just up the road in Hexham earlier in the year😫. So it’s appeared in a few nice photos over the years but only important to those who’ve appeared in, or have taken the phot. The trees only really reached notoriety since it was cut down. If it hadn’t most of us wouldn’t of known it existed. It’s changed the landscape in an area 200 mts square. There’s woodland being taken out all across the country that often changes the landscape from 10miles away? Do we shed a tear - no! The cost of cleaning it up must of run into thousands, they could of given it to a local for firewood on the proviso they cleaned it up and didn’t knock anymore stone out of the Italian blokes wall🤔

That’s right, Navins crew took it down, they did a good job of it too.

Totally pointless removal when all said and done.

Do you work with Navin?

Have we met?

I used to do a fair bit of work with Navin.  Climbed for him on Assessment days for his Arb Approved contractor  status.

Good guy.

Good guy.

I don’t work with Navin, but I  trained and assessed a few of his guys a good few years back.

I was conducting a lot of felling and re-planting in the collection when he got the Arb contract at Bedgebury Pinetum, hence they got to do this take down.
It was actually a pleasure watching any of his teams set up on site, organised, methodical, efficient and aware of the public safety aspect on such a high profile site.
I don’t think we have met.

I thought it was a sixty year old man and his teenage son?

They had a grievance regarding a rented property?

Have I missed something?

Do we know why these two have been charged?

Cos they cut the tree down.
