I think they've some pretty high tech gear as Doug says.

Blue View Sonar on either Rovs or diver operated with a real time topside feed is used in zero visibility, has been for a while now.

Teledyne BlueView V Series 2D imaging sonars have been developed exclusively for...

Numerous variations by different manufacturers but much the same.

He estimates they can cover the entire length of the river in 3-4 days and be confident in the results.

3 - 4 days yes may be, this stretch of river i have walked many times and spent hundreds of hrs fishing it and i would say it aint a easy stretch to search, last thurs the 2nd of feb the river would of been carrying approx 18" of extra water so sorry to say if she did end up in the river , which i dont think, she will be out to sea by now, i know a fair bit about how Morecambe bay works with its tidal flows and currents and winds as well, personally i think there is someone else involved in this case !!!

Spud the private outfit that are now helping with the water search are called Specialist Group International. Their owner says they're using world leading sonar technology which is a lot more advanced than what the Police have available. He estimates they can cover the entire length of the river in 3-4 days and be confident in the results.

Apparently he spoke directly with the family before they started and told them "if she's in the river we will find her" which strikes me as supremely confident.

Any chance we could send the lads up to Loch Ness when they're done?......

Not hearing so much about the search now. Saw the specialist search group had pulled out of the search a few days ago saying they were confident she wasn't in the water. But Police still searching water while saying there's one route away from the scene not covered by CCTV and asking for dashcam footage, it seems they're struggling. Not sure they've many options left to make any progress.

They announced early on that they were absolutely certain she hadn't left the area as it was all covered by CCTV.

I thought at the time that was a big statement to make.

My own notion is increasingly that she's done a runner, for some reason.

That'd be the best outcome. Difficult to imagine leaving the kids and all the rest behind really, but people do.

The continuing water search strikes me as a bit desperate.
