My parents are victims of cowboy tree surgeons who are now blaming my mother.

Grinding the stump out would not of guaranteed killing this tree. It would have to be poisoned first. A lot of trees will send up suckers from the roots even after the stump is ground out - ever tried grinding out all the roots? Even the smallest piece of root could have enough stored energy to sprout and with a good soil and moisture conditions grow.

Thanks Dan. I never actually mentioned grinding.

I guess that something has been lost in translation. I very much doubt that the tree company told Mrs miggings that watering her flowers caused the cherry tree to grow back. More than likely they may have said, we have put some poison on the stump and make sure you don't wash it off by watering the garden within the next 3/6 hours or so.

I may have missed it but when was the tree felled? Those suckers next door look like that they have had a growing season or two.

If the neighbours are kicking up a fuss it's the landlords issue not the tenants.

I'm not claiming this to be a helpful post but here goes...

Ask the neighbours if they'd like you to chop down the tiny tree in their garden for them. Easy with a hand saw. But first tell them that in a few years' time the huge tree it'll become could be worth thousands. I've just sold the timber from a single wild cherry (at a discount) for over £3k. They might suddenly decide they quite like it.

If your landlord is being arsey about it then show them a printout of this thread as there are plenty of experienced 'tree people' all saying that your mother's alleged watering won't have made any difference at all to what's happened to regrowth from a tree that presumably they as landlord own.

So it was you that did the job 😂

don't forger Diane Abbott

Yeah DA and Jeremy Corbyn. I just generally included them under the Labour banner - although, I think, Corbyn is still kicked out of Labour isn’t he??   He needs to go in the lime pit either way.

Probably wouldn’t hurt to throw Clarkson in for good measure too - irritating tosser.
