Here we have yet another “Follow the Science”

So the pollution from wood burning is only half what it was last year.  This follows all the government models for many things including Covid deaths and Climate Change forecasts

Sure it should always be “ Question the Science” with automatically being called a denier.  Question the science and expect a calmly reasoned response

The reports can be found here: https://www.gov.uk/government/statistics/emissions-of-air-pollutants/emissions-of-air-pollutants-in-the-uk-particulate-matter-pm10-and-pm25

Looking through the reports, data and various links I'm not sure how acurate the numbers are. Some of the numbers seem to be based on what they describe as "highly uncertain estimates".

I did find this document which seems to try and work out the various sources of particulates but it seems to be based on multiple statistics and surveys so the room for error is huge.

From here: https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/1054220/Methods_and_quality_processes_for_UK_air_pollutant_emissions_statistics.pdf

For all sources, the activity data are not routinely collected as annual statistics across the timeseries. Instead, the NAEI generates the timeseries estimates of activity based on available survey data and published statistics, together with proxy data to extrapolate across years where data are missing. The activity estimates were refined in 2011 and 2012 in the light of a national waste burning habits survey of a thousand UK households completed on behalf of Defra in 2010, and with improved representation of numbers of households and allotments across the timeseries.

The above is just part of their explanation of how they worked out the numbers for bonfires. Based on an old survey and I'm sure many of the responses to that would have been rather innacurate.

meanwhile china has 1110 coal fired power stations.

China has the greatest number of coal-fired power stations of any country or territory in the world.

How else are they expected to power the factories to make all of the kit to satisfy our green energy goals ? 🙄

It's a stitch up.

Come up with some stats that say we have a major problem so let's have lots of legislation to deal with the problem. Bring in the legislation and then admit the stats that were founded on false info. Bet the legislation and this bureaucracy wont disappear.
