Anyone see the new series with ed stafford this week on channel 4. Looks like there are new laws going through parliament which will have a big impact on the travelling community.

I watched it and was suprised at the end - without wanting to give away thr end of the episode - he's spent a day or so with a gypsy family and I guess had explained what he was doing. trying to portray them in a fair way, time to move on and found out his caravan had been broken into, a dump on his transit windscreen. dented roof and front bodywork trashed... For a Gypsy PR exercise they didn't come out of it very well.

Brilliant, Shut most of the camps then prosecute people for being roadside, makes perfect sense! Some folk might not like them but they are here to stay, years ago some councils used to find a respected member of the traveling cummunity to run camps, in fact I pulled in one in Northampton a few moths back, unfortunately lots of councils left the gates open then wondered why the places were used to flytip and much worse.

Haven’t seen it advertised, I’ll try and catch it.

I remember Robert Kilroy Silk spent some time with some as part of a documentary.

They didn’t come out of that looking very good either

It may have been an initiation ritual that was lost on him because of his white privilage?

He might have been expected to steal all their dogs and flyer their caravans in return in order to display his acceptance.
