200L Drum Pump (manual or 12V?)

I am making a switch from Aspen to Stihl’s offering as I am fed up of having empty 5L cans knocking about my shed, and I can get a very good deal on a big old drum of Motomix.
 

I have a 200L drum coming next week, and I now need a way to get said fuel out of said drum and into my combi can. 

 

I could probably get away with a manual pump, as I’ll only ever be decanting 5L at a time. But I am a big fan of mechanising as much as possible, so I’m open to getting a 12V or mains powered pump also.

 

Anybody got any recommendations/top tips for what’s out there?
 

Have been toying with the idea of getting a similar sized drum of bar oil too. Clearly I’ll not go through that quite as quickly and I can imagine it’s a bit of a bugger to pump especially in the cold! So I might stick to 20L drums for now.

MMMMMmmmmmmmm highly volatile petrol and a 12/240 volt sparky motor rather you than me, I’m told  5 litres of petrol goes up like a kilo of dynamite perhaps you could confirm this equation !! 200 litres / 5 = 40 x 2.2 ( kilo to lbs) = 88 lbs bomb

Cant help re the pump but I buy Aspen in the 20 litre cans and just use one of those syphon hose things - cheap and takes a minute or so.

 

Out of interest what was the saving switching to Stihl versus just getting an Aspen drum delivered?

For what you need it would be a hand pump for me.

Would not use pump, would opt for a barrel stand and fit tap so it can be sealed tight.

As above or go with a pneumatic barrel pump.

I use this for exactly that. Not perfect but pretty good fast enough and cheap.

If that link doesn't work type in sealey tp78 on search engine, and don't buy it from sealey site as it looks twice the price.

I use an American hand pump Mike, not cheap but brilliant, wish I’d got one years ago, wouldn’t use leccy pump due to possibility of sparks/ fumes, chain oil just stick to 20lt drums, I have had 200lt drums and they always seem to be so thick and snotty there almost unporable in winter and I end up letting them down with diesel.

Check with your building insurer too with a 200l drum on site, should the worst happen that’s a big old fireball!

Lifted stand and a tap gets my vote, minimal moving parts, no sparks etc etc

You know you can get Aspen in 200 drums too?
