I'd order it but Brexit means double vat, tariffs and handling on top of postage.

I could get a couple sent to a UK client though who could bring them them over.

Thats where ours came from, and what you state above thats what you have to pay for buying from the UK, Do you not know any drivers either coming to the UK or coming over to France from the UK ?

My vote goes for the beautiful item from Tajfun, incredibly light and top quality.

 

13 tonne rated and comes with a very good quality sling.

 

I’ve had a couple from Kilworth and they’re highly recommended.

I got a couple of Van Beest green pin snatch blocks made in Netherlands. They were cheap, €150 each some years ago, 6 or 7 maybe. Rated 4 tonne, but that's for lifting, x5 safety factor, so fail at 20 tonne. They came with built in shackles rated for 6 tonne. Two grease nipples, one of the shackle swivel and one for the bronze bushing. 10-12 mm groove. Each unit weighs 16kg... Massively heavy and strong things, for very reasonable money.

Give the diameter of the snatch block a bit of thought, there is a minimum recommended pulley diameter for a given rope size.

Does any one know where I can get a block that drops the cable when the winches log comes in to contact with it ? I've seen them being used on the forum before I think it was slack my girdles post??

Treadlight sell them but you need the trigger block on the line too, this conical block rides the  rope off the groove.

 

I have the snatch block (only rated at 2 tonnes) but not the trigger as the sudden slack in the HMWPE rope causes problems with the wraps on the Eder capstan, so I slack off and dismount the rope, take up slack and start winching again.
