People who know they can't reverse a Caravan should get some training through the clubs that most of them are members of. There are trailer trainers that go to club sites and give lessons.

Take up of those club courses & people who book courses direct amounts to less than 5% of people who are made to take a test. Letting people decide if they need training or not just does not work.

I see your point but I don't want to have to refresh another ticket every few years because other people can't reverse a trailer. Many people can't reverse a car, that doesn't mean we should all have to refresh our driving licenses imo.

Sorry crossed wires. I dont think it needs to be refreshed. Make it like CBT for older drivers, once to unlock it then it stays unlocked.

Got ya, the thing is with people like the bloke I mentioned here is (I think) is they don't want to learn. There is no exscuse for him, there is a lady in the village who teaches trailers who stores here unit behind his Caravan.

You get the same attitude with people that have been towing for years but now have to get the licence.

I have had some very experienced towers come on courses. Every single one would have failed the test but more importantly every single one learnt a lot about towing / driving professionally. Some of them will carry on as they were & some will change for the better. A course is not long enough to change people perception unless they are willing. For those not willing it would take too long.

I thought the lack of hgv drivers was for two reasons…
1 we left the eu.
2 who’s stupid enough to invest in a career that’ll be gone in ten years with the advent of driverless vehicles.

I think you are wrong on both counts .... it is much more complex than that !!
