My favourites of this lot are Talisker, Laphroaig and Highland Park. None are 18yr, maybe should treat myself to one sometime.[emoji48]

Like @Johnsond, I nearly killed myself with whisky when I was a young pup, and can just about tolerate it 3 decades later.

I’d quite like to rediscover some nice single malts to enjoy as a sipping drink.

 

Rather than drinking nearly 2 bottles of Grouse at a house party and falling asleep in a bath.

Which was quite handy because I spewed and pissed myself.

Now thats just jogged my memory, i had a bad time on it as well when i was about 18/19, we had been down the local on a friday night and ended up back at ours watching snooker final and 2 of us set to and downed a ltr bottle of Grouse, got up late sat morn and didnt feel to bright, went for a walk down the river late aft and started stumbling about all over the place so went home and was back in bed for 6pm, after this i have stayed away from Whisky for some 30yrs but now have 1 or 2 now n then but no cheap stuff or blended commercialised whisky, Dura seems to be Ok with just 1 ice cube,

Jura superstition was a nice one [emoji108] sweet honey hit with a bit of smokey spice. Think its discontinued now, not keen on jura original though 🥴

Jura,, Its a shed load better than Grouse, Bells etc we had one in the shoot shed thats made some where around Bassenthwait in the lakes, it was supposed to be a very good Whisky but we all thought it was average run of the mill stuff,

I really like Talisker but it gives me a raging hangover. 

 

If you like mellow peat without the tang,this is a robust full bodied whisky with a really keen Finnish.

Currently on a Aberlour 12 in the cupboard, quite like a Dalmore 12 too, got a Dalmore 15 at the back of my collection which i havent tried yet. Will dig a few of em out and take a pic tomoz when i get chance. My run of the mill go to whiskey which is at the cheaper end but i think is a cracking tipple for what it is, is Monkey Shoulder, smooth enough, and with that warming vanilla finish i think its great! Only over one ice cube though, never add anything to my whiskies, ruins em. Got some Smokey Monkey to try too

 

 

This is a nice drinking whisky. For £30 a litre you really can't go wrong.

It's a shame you can't get the cask strength versions of Tamnavulin but this is all shipped to Taiwan.
