Jansen, hyundai, gtm etc. Not an awful lot between the various brands really. I bought a gtm 1300 a few years back and have no complaints with it.

What he said. Get the 15hp model and keep the blades sharp. Adjust the anvil gap to suit the material you are putting through it.

Hello to everyone!

What is your opinion regarding breaking-in a diesel engine on a chipper ?

The engine manual says not to work the engine at maximum rpm for the first 20 hours.
The chipper manufacturer says to go full on after 1 tank (4.7lt) for 15-20' and then lower it for 5-6'. He said full on because otherwise it cannot chip the branches we have here (work mostly with olive tree).

Thinking to stick with the no max for 20 hours, but dont know what to do all this time!!

Should I just keep it with the load of the chipper drum&blades or should I try to chip some material as well ?
Should I operate it continuously for 1 tank or stop before ?

Let me know what is your experience!

Thanks!

I lost interest when I read "Kohler engine"

The latest batch have Briggs & Stratton engines with no plans to return to Kohler, they were only used whilst the B&S engines were unobtainable. Honda engines are also now optional on all new build Titan machines.

Honda or Honda copy on all machines for me. Kubota for diesel. You're rarely let down that way.

Saw this, it's almost like a scale model, tweeny drum chipper:

Awwww innit cute [emoji8]

I got one of these on the cheap a few months back. So far it’s chomped through 3 whole 8’ conifers and a load of dead ash brash. Takes anything up to 2” and goes through pretty rapid. Works for me as anything 2” and above goes in the stove anyway

Got to be honest, it’s a lot better than I thought it would be!

Has any one mounted a battery powered winch to their wee chipper? getting up ramps and such.  Saw a dutch brand of small chippers that has them on with the controller mounted on the handle. Figure It shouldn't be too difficult to add one to mine but would need to either add a separate battery or change the the starter battery.

Sounds like a good idea. You wouldn’t need a crazy large winch, so the starter battery might be OK.
