I use the same lid. I also like it a lot. Personally I keep the chinstrap done Up when climbing. I always thought if I had a mishap up a tree and fell the lid would probably come off my bonce before I either hit the deck or the trunk.

Does yours have the gold coloured metal mesh visor. I quite like them. Easy to bend back into shape if they get squashed by other kit in the vans.

Don’t think so, not at home atm so can’t check

Either way , great lid. From a safety point of view for climbing I’d say reinstate the chin strap Mick.

Not going to happen, but thanks.

Are they hot on H & S over there ? I.e you should wear chainsaw trousers , equivalent of Lola for kit etc when working professionally

Or are they typically laissez faire

Laissez faire, at least out here in the sticks.

It’s a bit like 30 years ago in the UK, tree surgery or whatever you choose to call it is not really a recognised industry, just something landscapers do occasionally.

I have noticed an improvement in the last 15 years, more chippers, more competent climbers in evidence. Down to more training courses I suppose, like in the UK.

I wear a chinstrap loosely-  cannot bear it tight as it makes me nauseous. Something is better than nothing & I really feel it's a necessity when climbing, as it's all too easy to have it knocked of your head in an impact.

Have had the husky helmet a while (with the gold coloured visor) and I like it a lot.

I always use the strap though, never considered removing it. Do you have problems with it moving about all the time when only the muffs securing it?

i always use the chinstrap in the tree, then clip it up inside the lid when on the ground.

id feel a bit silly if it fell off in the tree when i needed it or if it needed replacing due to a fall from a tree.

I have used Petz helmets for ages. I always keep the chin strap done up when climbing or off the ground in any way. In fact I keep the strap done up on the ground, as I can't stand if flapping about.
