95% sure that's ash. Is so it's a fairly hard timber that is one of the driest when fresh cut but slow to give up its remaining water. Often gets ash bark beetle that lives in the bark and looks much like regular woodworm but doesn't seem to eat the wood.   

 

Good firewood as said above

yep , looks like ash to me also .

Could well be, I would expect Ash to be whiter than that.

Ash can be quite pink on the cut face sometimes .
