  1. Personally a big fan of Pfanner SOS suit if I'm on my own. Had a strange "Slip" once in windblowns, one in a thousand, saw came out of my hands and as I was knocked over it gently kissed the tendon behind my knee, lucky really. My lesson was no matter how good you may be you can always be humbled.
  2. You need an insulated camel pack, game changer
  3. I wonder how the equation, newer cleaner equipment that only lasts 5 minutes vs old kit that is dirtier but lasts. Still rolling a 30 year old defender, wonder if green can match that
  4. Interesting! I'll take a look, any good links?
  5. Got to be my favourite saw, I want to know the price and if it's legit, if it's right I'd stick a few on the shelf for the future. I bought a few ea5000's as they ended too, can't wait for the warranty to end and open them up.
  6. Where is that then? Genuine 346's?
  7. I keep telling people that lol, nobody seem to listen 🤣
  8. I'll try and ID the cylinder, it's definitely not Mahle. Impulse hole could be a good shout.
  9. Just watched a video, I'm happy with the metering arm now.
  10. I too love these saws but this one is testing me. The carb as been rebuilt as far as gaskets, diaphragm, gauze, needle and lever arm but I didn't set that up, I'm going to need a little guide here. It dies immediately the choke is opened or throttle opened, ie it ticks over (a bit quick) with the choke in the start position (closed) for a few seconds and then dies unless you do the above and the immediate. H and L screws are correct but no idea yet on idle, can't keep it going but I have set that deliberately too quick. Will spray in cleaner when I'm back at the weekend. I'll dig further into breathers etc probably should start with the lever arm. Never seen a wierd fault like this
  11. No, best I learn how to do that. I just set the screws (h and l) to one turn from fully in as a start point.
  12. I've got a saw that's kicking my ass. Mates 262xp had been in a shed for a few years, fuel was obviously rotten. The diaphragm was slack so I rebuilt the carb (not Chinese) new plug, good compression and usual service checks before refuelling and cranking. Should say at this point that I don't think the pot is original, I can't see Mahle stamped anywhere. It started on choke but oddly ran on for a few seconds, as soon as the choke is released or the throttle touched it INSTANTLY dies. It did it a few times until I decided to go and chop wood before I launched it. What am I missing?
  13. I'm inclined to agree with Crocky, for a little bit more weight I'd reach for the bigger saw if such a job required. A powerful 50cc will almost certainly be your go to for as much as you can possibly get away with, much lighter, less fuel usage. I have 3 old 346xp's that I ported and without fail there is always one in the truck and I have saws of all other classes. If budget is tight grab yourself one of the last ea5000p's (£470) before they go and get someone to supply you with a SLR removed muffler before you even pull the cord, it's what kills these little machines. Really easy to port too.
  14. This is super easy to do yourself and there is a ton of info on YouTube. You might as well have a go if you are swapping it out anyway.

As Spud my TT20k is brilliant, never clipped it to the lead.
  16. I'll box it and weight it, then give you dimensions and weight, you can sort the courier any way you like then. A beer might be nice 😂
  17. I wouldn't have said it'd done much, I'm guessing that's the origional bar. Plenty of compression.
  18. Does anyone have a 7900/7300/6400 series saw they are willing to part with? It doesn't need to have a good top end but needs to be good down stairs. I'm looking to build a sleeper saw that absolutely doesn't comply with current legislation. I have a new OEM top end I'm going to start cutting as soon as I get the bottom end and do the numbers. Thanks in advance
  19. I would gladly have given a trailer load for every 3 we got out the woods or a days brash dragging. Besides, it's cheaper than a gym membership, I should be charging 😂
