Yeah, done a bit of felling and cross cutting.
With a 30” bar it’s very well balanced.
Cuts fresh oak like chocolate out the fridge.
I was intending only to use it for milling, but I really like the power for cross cutting big stems.

You lot are weirdos getting excited about how good looking a saw is!

The ‘ugly’ panel gap is to allow the AV mounts to work - saws are built in two halves (one for each hand) held together with rubber and/or springs.

The two halves are generally split into handles/fuel tank and engine/drive. Not split for each hand, it's isolation between the engine and handles.

 

While you need gaps between the two separated halves for AV movement they could've made it look better.

 

What's wrong with caring about the aesthetics? Just becsuse it's a saw doesn't mean its design beyond functionality isn't important.
