  1. I honestly offered £750! Don't know why he didn't take it, I must be an arsehole or something. Nevermind!!!!!
  2. My apologies! I assumed it was bags, just spoke to him and he only does 1 ton loads!!!! Think this lockdown stuff and the talk of snow down here is starting to affect me. 🤪
  3. Bless you trigger. When I said I offer £250 a ton I meant on that last log I had offered him £750. As you pointed out he would get £330 so £750 is a tad bit more than he made.
  4. First of all he only sells logs on the side and I offer him much more than bottom dollar IMHO. He sells logs between £95-£110 a ton bag. The last one he cut up he said he got 3 bags out of it so I offered to pay the equivalent of £250 a ton. Please tell me if I'm wrong and that is pennies above. I just don't like seeing good quality timber going to firewood.
  5. Don't know. I've asked him how many bags he would get out of them and then better the price he sells the for.
  6. They are very much accessible they sit in his yard until I enquire about them and then boom! Rung up and processed.
  7. Let's just say I would give him much more than he gets for firewood. Sadistic streak or just plain stupid.
  8. The thing is I have. I've offered a very good price.
  9. I feel your pain. I have a good friend who finds great pleasure in ringing up beautiful trunks for firewood when I offer to buy them from him.
  10. All I can say is Howzat for a couple of films!!!! I thought Wrights just supplied the willow blade to manufacturer's. Tried to buy some from them years ago but they weren't interested in a little scrot like me.

    Jokes???

Smashing pumpkins, be-witched, garbage, artic monkeys.
  12. It's always asking around and getting a card out to as many places as possible because you just dont know when that bit of cherry lying in the corner is going to make you a millionaire!!!!
  13. Being from a Joinery background what Squaredy said is true. Joiners tend to keep to a certain selection of timber for our day to day work and for that prices tend to be cheap. However there does come a time when I'm asked to do something special or to replace something on a listed build that requires sourcing unique lengths and species of timber. Luckily for me I'm a sawmiller too and can usually meet my needs but sometimes even I need to source timber from others.
