I am just starting out on my journey training to be a tree surgeon and I wanted some advice on the best chainsaw trousers to purchase please ? any advice on any subject would be much appreciated as ??

This. You might buy the "best" trousers but if they don't fit properly you'll be uncomfortable and not able to move. Lots of people will recommend Pfanners but not the right shape for me at all.

Same with harness.

I have the Stihl Function Ergo, as worn by pikies , rogue traders and cold callers up n down the country, which I often get mistaken for.

Get at least one size bigger than your normal trouser size.

I know your location doesn’t help, but Treekit are in Christchurch, definitely worth popping over.

 

Dan is spot on, the ‘best’ are the best for you.
