I’ve just bought a pallet of aspen and it works out at £2.67 a litre plus vat. And you don’t have to buy 2 stroke oil or go to a garage and queue up with everyone doing their weekly shopping !

How many litres do you get in a pallet?

If i were using enough i'd buy in bulk but that's quite a significant outlay and a fair bit of floor space to buy a whole pallet!

What oil grade do you reckon they use? I run Stihl HP Ultra in my saws as to use the best grade available (is there a better oil available?) but i do recall reading that Aspen or Husky pre-mixed uses a synthetic oil.

You get 54 x 5ltr cans, so 270 litres.
No idea what oil they use without looking it up.

Saws have a lot less issues and run cleaner on aspen, and no nasty fumes, particular when hedge cutting, although have battery stuff for that as well now.

Yes . Red Line Racing 2T .    I mix it at 50:1 with Aspen 4 or Husky equivalent .

Interesting, i'll have a look.

That's a lot of litres! Bet you have to do a lot of work to burn through all that!

I haven't run enough alkylate to notice a difference in fumes, but the stuff that comes out my 572 is nasty! I'll run the rest of my mixed Aspen through it as see how it goes. Is it really that noticeable?

I buy Aspen in a pallet, I split it with a milling friend. Works out about a tenner a day more if I use the full 5litre. I add a tenner on the job or put another tonne on the floor. No queuing behind dumb fat builders buying Costa in the petrol station every morning and I get 2 years warranty instead of one as a professional user with my local Husqvarna dealer.
