It would take me less then a day to get that down I can guarantee ?

I'm almost certain that the majority of us could. Although the Greenkeeping team would need to spend a week correcting the lawn after I attempt it.

All well and good, but we're all running business's,  it's not a competition,

Its always a competition with myself to do the task as efficiently and professionally as possible people can charge what they want it's a free market if my skill set and equipment means I can do it in less time I can make profit and be out of there quicker all this charge more go steady is a substitute for skill sets and equipment !  and there wouldn't be lots of holes in the lawn either !

Exactly that.

Everyone only looks through their own eyes. If you've got a skid steer and GCRS etc, you've got to pay for it all. If some old boy pays his climber an extra 50 quid for a tough day and does it in a day with a capstan and some 3 strand for 1200 as opposed to 5k. No-one loses. I know which firm I'd rather do it with but we're all walking our own path.

Just because someone puts 900 quid on it, doesn't mean they don't know what they're doing. Just because someone puts 3k on it doesn't mean they do either.

This thread is the most I have enjoyed Arbtalk for a long time.

Good point well made Don, but in this case I don't think it's a case of hope quick you can get the tree down. The determining factor I'd how quick your guys can clear the brash and process the timber and clear the sawdust.

If I got subbed in to get that tree down in a day then no bother, but there would still be a lot of time in the stem and clear up.
